A funny thing happened: Roast beef became a cold sandwich with melted cheddar cheese.
At home, roast beef is a delicious slab of bone sheared, highly permeated, soft and tender, viscous meat that makes you remember to (1) use a knife and fork, and (2) chew.
I promise you, Mom either served us mashed Idaho, or red roasted potatos with vegetables, if there wasn’t a soup or stew. And somehow….Somehow….Cornbread. And then salad time started..
Meals didn’t even end there.
